Water Testing Services – Bacteria, Metals, Chemical Analysis | Nova Scotia
Microbiological Analysis
Bacterial contamination is the most common water quality issue in Nova Scotia. Our lab provides accurate detection of indicator organisms.
- Total Coliforms
- E. coli
Why Test for Bacteria?
Coliform bacteria are commonly found in the environment (soil, vegetation) and in the intestinal tracts of animals. While most coliforms are harmless, their presence indicates that surface contamination has found its way into your well.
E. coli is a subgroup of fecal coliforms. Its presence confirms that waste from humans or animals is entering the water supply. This poses a significant immediate health risk.
Recommendation
Nova Scotia Health recommends testing your well water for bacteria every 6 months.

Metals & Chemicals
We utilize advanced instrumentation (ICP-MS) to detect trace metals and minerals down to ultra-low levels.
Request Chemical AnalysisChemical Parameters
Naturally occurring metals like Arsenic and Uranium are prevalent in Nova Scotia's groundwater due to our geology. Long-term exposure can lead to serious health issues.
Major Cations
*Some tests are accredited. Please inquire for specific details.
Recommendation
Nova Scotia Health recommends testing your well water for chemical contaminants every 2 years.
